Restoring Hope and Sanity....

Saturday, October 30th started out with clear skies and fall in the air.

A number of fellow Seattlites and I met downtown for the Rally to Restore Sanity gathering. We met at 9AM to coincide with the noon Rally in Washington, DC.
Yes, it's true. Kim and I watch the Daily Show fairly regularly to watch a master of critical thinking put a humorous spin on what's happening in our country.
We met at Westlake Center, a popular gathering place in Seattle.
We met up with friends Harriet (R), Barbara (center) and Deborah (L)
as well as many others.
There was a live video streaming from DC. H e r e' s Jon!

And here's the Washington Mall--brimming with many
Restoration of Sanity Seekers.

Here's Representative Jim McDermott, from Washington, representing us in Washington.
There were many, many signs. Here are but a few of my favorites:

Simply stated and so to the point.
This was really one of my favorites. But, I must tell you about another one that I wasn't able to capture which read, "I really don't have much to say so instead I drew a bunny...." Everyone shared their voice.

The Master of Patience and Tolerance.

Ummm, I am not so sure but we should be prepared every day for our last day.
Our future taking it all in....
Stephen Colbert tried to incite FEAR....

The crowd would have none of it! We won't be manipulated!!
Well, almost everyone....
Many important groups were represented...

After the rally we wandered to the Pike Place Market and took in the
beautiful sights of autumn....

Oh yum, yum.

Not so yummy to me, but in a pinch, I know where to go for more brains as mine is running slow and low.

This was a really good day on many levels. And just in case you may be wondering, we were a proud and patriotic group of people who do seek the best for our nation. We seek kindness and respect toward one another. We seek to respect different opinions from our own in a courteous manner. We believe in critical thinking and seek an end to fear mongering. We believe in the teachings of Mr. Rogers.
