Catching Up on a Busy Week....

We've had a busy week here in Alessandria. To begin with, Kim decided it was time to teach the Italians about American biscotti. A kind friend, Mary Jo, sent us a package awhile back with 2 bags of chocolate chips and brown sugar. We haven't been able to find either ingredient and so it was a surprise fantastico! Kim made the cookies, we gave some to Rita and family, and then I ate the vast majority remaining. Chocolate chip cookies are my all time favorites. Thank you Mary Jo!!!!!!!
Later, to walk off the cookies, we took another walk to the cemetery and did more exploring. Every time we go, we find new sights. Below is a monument in honor of the resistance movement. The weather for the last week has been sky blue. It's chilly but beautiful.
Titi's cousin, twice removed below. There were a few more accompanying this little guy.
More beauty.

Other folks out for a walk and ride.
Moving on...we had guests from Seattle coming this week--Gabriella and Henry. Henry, FYI, bought the bookstore when Kim sold those few years back. I wanted to have dinner ready and experimented with making some lasagna. The pasta for lasagna comes in thin sheets (like a thick filo dough)and are very pliable. You don't boil ahead; you just cook it up.

Lasagna with tomatoes, mushrooms and a red sauce- pretty yummy and easy.
